There’s a saying that goes “life is like a coin. You can spend it on whatever you want but you can only spend it once.” Personally, I feel like this kind of mindset is so destructive. I think that if you live your life with the idea that you only have one life you’ll end up with really rigid thought patterns throughout your life, always putting unnecessary pressure on yourself when you fail, always thinking you don’t want to waste your life or you’ve wasted your life, always thinking I wish I had someone else’s life. You may not be aware of these thoughts but you live like them, constantly in an endless self-depreciating rush.
I think in reality it’s never too late until it’s too late. We’re humans, we’re not perfect, we make mistakes, we fail, we grow, we change and we move on until the next time we make a mistake. When I look back at my life I realise I’m not the same person I was 10 years ago, 5 years ago, 1 year ago, even 1 month ago. I’ve lived many lifetimes and I still have many more to go. Life is supposed to be a rollercoaster that’s what makes it worth while. I don’t think we spend one coin on whatever we want, I think we spend thousands of coins on everything we want but most importantly need.
